Tim holds a B.A. in Music from North Texas State University where he studied Jazz, Classical Guitar and Music Theory, where his teachers included Jack Petersen, Philip Hii and Dan Haerle. He has continued his musical education, with seminars, masterclasses and personal instruction from Fingerstyle guitarists Alex DeGrassi, Ed Gerhard, Chris Proctor and Mark Hanson and Mandolinists Mike Marshall, Caterina Lichtenberg and Don Stiernberg.

As one of Tim's students said, “In my 12+ years of playing the guitar, never have I had a teacher as inspiring and encouraging as Tim Fowler. More than any guitar teacher I've had, Tim meets you where you are at (whether that be your skill level or musical preference) and takes you to that coveted and sometimes elusive "next level." He doesn't have a "canned" lesson plan but tailors his time with you to what you need. Tim is a joy to work with. It is an honor to sit under his instruction and encouragement.”
